Sheryl Webster is a Liverpool children’s author and the creator of Kindness Rocks®, a children’s book about a rockstar lion called Jonny Heart and the simple idea that kindness really can make a difference.
When she wrote the story in 2020, she never imagined it would grow into everything it has become.
Since the book was published in 2024, Kindness Rocks® has brought together thousands of children, families, schools and communities through kindness projects, charity fundraising and events. Sheryl has worked with schools, young adults with autism, community groups and charities, and more than 3,000 people have now taken part in Kindness Rocks® activities.
One of the projects that has grown from the book is Rock Your Socks®, which is now entering its fourth year.
From September- October, schools, nurseries, businesses, community groups and individuals are being invited to choose a day to wear their brightest, funniest or favourite socks to work or school, and bring in a brand-new pair of socks to donate, which Sheryl will then collect.
This year, the donations will support Cash for Kids Liverpool and Paper Cup Coffee Liverpool, helping local children, families and people experiencing homelessness.
Kindness Rocks has already collected over 5,000 pairs of socks over the past few years, but Sheryl is hoping to make an even bigger difference this year.

'It feels incredibly special to see the character from a little book I wrote here in Liverpool appearing on the city’s screens -but even more special to be able to use that opportunity to encourage people to do something so simple that could make a real difference to someone else,' Sheryl said.
'I’d love to see Rock Your Socks spread right across the Liverpool community this September and October.
